How to create email campaigns and automations in ScaleEdges

Write your marketing emails, target your customers and followers, and track your sends from Communication.

ScaleEdges includes a built-in email marketing tool: in Communication, you create Email campaigns that you send once to a chosen audience, and Automations that send emails on their own after an event, such as a purchase. These marketing emails are sent from the verified ScaleEdges domain. Receipts, download links and security messages are separate and are never affected.

How many marketing emails can you send?

Each plan includes a monthly marketing email quota:

PlanMarketing emails per monthRequired branding
Starter (free)500Powered by ScaleEdges
Mover15,000None
Shaker75,000None
Enterprise250,000None

One email accepted for one recipient uses one unit. A campaign sent to 300 recipients uses 300 emails; an automation with three steps for 100 people can use up to 300 emails. There is no limit on the number of contacts.

On Starter, you can create drafts and previews from the start. Sending and publishing unlock after €50 in valid sales on ScaleEdges, or immediately with an active paid subscription. Test payments, imports and fully refunded amounts do not count toward this threshold. Once the threshold is reached, access is kept. Without it, the end of a paid plan suspends new sends but keeps your drafts and automations.

The gauge shows your usage, pending reservations, remaining balance, percentage used and the renewal date, the first day of the following month in UTC. It also separates campaigns from automations.

At 80% and then at 100%, a notification and an email warn you, once per threshold each month. These alerts do not use your marketing quota. When you reach the limit, wait for the renewal or upgrade to a plan with a higher quota. See Pricing.

How do you create an email campaign?

  1. Open Email campaigns, select New campaign and enter an internal name.
  2. Define the audience from your store's customers and followers.
  3. Write the subject, the preheader and the content with the usual rich editor.
  4. Insert variables at the cursor, for example {{customer.first_name}}, {{customer.email}} and {{store.name}}. {{product.name}} uses the trigger context when there is one.
  5. Check the Desktop and Mobile previews, then save.
  6. Open Review and send to check the number of recipients, the quota required and the balance after sending.
  7. Choose Send now or Schedule, with a date and time in your browser's time zone, then confirm.

The audience is recalculated when sending starts, and each recipient is checked again before their email goes out. The same address never receives two copies because it matches several criteria. A campaign is sent in batches and keeps its progress if the server restarts.

How do you target the right audience?

You can select customers, followers or both, look for products purchased or not purchased, and choose specific variations. Filters on spending, purchase dates and subscription status complete these criteria. Groups are combined with AND; several products in the same selection are alternatives (OR).

The estimate only counts eligible recipients who have given their consent. Unsubscribed addresses, complaints and hard bounces are excluded. Consent limited to cart reminders is not enough to receive a general campaign.

How do you build an automation?

  1. Open Automations and select New automation.
  2. Enter a name and choose a trigger: purchase completed, new follower, subscription cancelled, new affiliate or account created by the customer.
  3. Build the timeline, then publish.

The Abandoned cart automation already exists and runs your abandoned cart reminders.

How triggers behave:

  • For a purchase, the products, variations, amount and date refer to the purchase that triggered the automation.
  • For a cancellation, select the product or variation of the subscription. Scheduling a future cancellation does not trigger the email until the cancellation takes effect.
  • An affiliate enters the automation once approved.
  • An account created automatically to deliver a purchase does not trigger New account created.

The timeline connects the trigger and the emails. Select a step to see its preview on the left and its settings on the right. Delays are relative to the previous step, in minutes, hours, days or weeks; zero means immediately. You can add, duplicate, move or delete steps.

What happens after you publish an automation?

  • A draft accepts nobody and sends no email.
  • A published automation processes new matching events.
  • Pause keeps the people already in the sequence. Resume continues their progress and processes new events, without replaying the ones that happened during the pause.

Published changes create an immutable version. People already in the sequence continue with their version; new entrants receive the new one. If a step waits too long because of the quota, it is marked Skipped - quota exceeded, after 24 hours by default. The next delay restarts from that decision, to avoid late bulk sends.

How do you read your campaign results?

Each campaign shows its status, its recipients and its quota usage. The details show emails sent, delivered, bounces, complaints, opens, clicks and unsubscribes. Automations also show their entries and results for each email.

Open and click rates divide unique recipients by confirmed deliveries. Hover over a rate to see the exact number. Opening a message ten times does not count as ten people. Privacy protections in some email apps can affect open tracking.

A send whose network response is uncertain waits for confirmation from the provider; it is not resent automatically. Support can review these cases. A reputation restriction only suspends your store's marketing emails.

How do you set the sender and handle unsubscribes?

Customize the From name and Reply-To in Sender. The sending address remains the platform's verified domain. Every message includes an unsubscribe link that works without an account. Unsubscribing applies to all marketing emails from your store, including cart reminders.

You decide the content and the targeting and remain the data controller; ScaleEdges processes the data to provide the service. Marketing consent boxes are unchecked by default. See the terms of service and the privacy policy.
