How to connect Stripe to accept payments on your ScaleEdges store

Connect a Stripe account from Settings → Payments & pricing so buyers can pay by card and the money is paid out directly to your bank account.

To accept card payments, open Settings → Payments & pricing, select Connect Stripe in the Stripe card, and complete Stripe's secure onboarding. When you come back to ScaleEdges and the card shows ✓ Stripe connected, your store can accept real payments.

Stripe pays your sales into your own Stripe account, then to your bank account. ScaleEdges never holds your money and never sees your buyers' card numbers.

Before you start

Prepare the information Stripe asks for. It depends on your country and on your business type, but usually includes:

  • your legal name, or your company's name and registration details;
  • your address and date of birth;
  • an identity document, if Stripe needs to verify it;
  • the bank account (IBAN or account number) where Stripe will send your payouts;
  • a short description of what you sell, and your store URL.

You need to be the store owner, or a team member whose role allows managing payouts, to see the Stripe card.

Connect Stripe step by step

  1. Open Settings → Payments & pricing.
  2. In the Stripe card, select Connect Stripe.
  3. Stripe opens its onboarding page. Enter the requested information and your bank details.
  4. At the end, Stripe sends you back to ScaleEdges.
  5. Check the message at the top of the Stripe card.

If it says Stripe is connected: your store can now accept real payments., setup is complete. If it says Stripe activation is not complete yet. Resume setup below., Stripe still needs information.

Your store can take payments as soon as Stripe activates card payments. Stripe may ask for more details later, for example when your sales volume grows. Keep an eye on emails from Stripe.

Resume an incomplete setup

If you closed the onboarding page before the end, or if Stripe needs more information, the card says that activation is incomplete. Select Resume Stripe setup to continue where you left off. Card payments stay unavailable until setup is complete.

While no payment method is active, buyers who try to pay for a product see: No payment method is available for this store yet.

Fees and payouts

Two kinds of fees apply to each sale:

  • ScaleEdges transaction fee: a percentage of each sale, shown in the Stripe card. It is 5% on the default offer, and you can lower it to 3% or 0% with a monthly option from Billing.
  • Stripe fees: Stripe's own processing fees, which depend on your country and the buyer's card. They are your responsibility and are listed in your Stripe dashboard.

Stripe sends your balance to your bank account on its payout schedule. Select Open my Stripe dashboard to see your payments, payouts, fees and receipts.

What buyers see at checkout

Buyers pay by card on your store's checkout page, without leaving your store. When Saved cards is enabled in the same settings tab, signed-in buyers can save their card to pay faster next time. Cards are stored by Stripe in your connected account, and a saved card can only be used in your store.

You can hide the save-card box or change its text in the website builder, on the Checkout page, in the Payment form block.

Refunds

You can refund a Stripe order from your ScaleEdges dashboard. The money goes back to the buyer's card through Stripe. See how to refund an order.

Disconnect Stripe

In the Stripe card, select Disconnect Stripe and confirm. Stripe payments stop immediately on your store. Your Stripe account and its history remain available in Stripe.

You can reconnect later with Connect Stripe. Orders paid through a disconnected account can no longer be refunded from ScaleEdges; refund them from your Stripe dashboard instead.

Troubleshooting

The card still says activation is incomplete. Select Resume Stripe setup. Stripe shows which information is missing.

Buyers see "No payment method is available for this store yet." Stripe is not connected, or its activation is not complete. Check the Stripe card in Settings → Payments & pricing.

Stripe asks for documents after my first sales. This is normal: Stripe verifies accounts in several stages. Answer from your Stripe dashboard to avoid a pause in payouts.
