You can create your first product in a few minutes: open Products → New product, choose a product type, enter a title, add a cover image, then fill the three tabs of the editor—Presentation, Content and Publication—and select Publish. Creating products is included in every plan, including Starter.
Step 1: choose the product type
When you open New product, ScaleEdges first asks you to Choose product type:
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Digital product | Files, pages, videos and downloadable resources: e-books, templates, presets, courses, audio packs… |
| Subscription | Recurring plans or lifetime access with benefits. |
| Coaching | 1:1 sessions or group programs, with an optional application form. |
| Bundle | Several of your existing digital products sold together. You need at least two products first. |
For a first product, Digital product is the right choice in most cases. Select Continue.
You can still change the type with Change product type at the top of the editor until you save the product for the first time.
Step 2: give your product a title
Enter a clear title that says what the buyer gets, for example Notion budget planner for freelancers rather than Planner v2. The title is used on your store, at checkout, in receipts and by search engines.
If the title sounds like a bundle, ScaleEdges suggests Turn into a bundle. Ignore it if you are selling a single product.
On Mover, Shaker and Enterprise plans, ✨ Create with AI lets Lumia AI draft the title, description and content from a short description of your product. You can then edit everything before publishing.
Step 3: add a cover image
The cover is the first thing visitors see in your product lists and on the product page. Select Choose cover image, pick an image from your media gallery or upload a new one, then select Continue. You can also choose Skip this step and add it later.
Use a sharp image in landscape or square format, and avoid putting important text near the edges.
Step 4: complete the Presentation tab
The Presentation tab contains everything visitors see before they buy.
Description
Write the Product description: who the product is for, what problem it solves, what is included (number of pages, file formats, video length…) and how buyers receive it. Short paragraphs, headings and bullet lists are easier to read than a single block of text.
Price
Enter the Price in your store currency. A price of 0 creates a free product, which is a good way to collect your first customers and email subscribers.
Two options change how the price works:
- Allow pay what you want pricing: the field becomes Minimum price, and you can add a Suggested price that is pre-filled for buyers.
- Create multiple versions: give each version its own name, price and content, for example Personal and Commercial license.
Images and alt text
Under Product images, you can replace the cover and add up to 10 Additional images. Drag them to change their order.
Select the gear icon on an image to write its Alternative text. Alt text describes the image for screen reader users and helps search engines understand it. On Mover, Shaker and Enterprise plans, Generate with Lumia writes a proposal in your store's language, which you can edit before selecting Save.
Advanced settings
Open Advanced settings when you need them:
- URL slug: the end of the product address,
/c/your-store/p/your-slug. - VAT category: Standard digital product, E-book — reduced rate where available or VAT exempt. It is only used when EU VAT collection is enabled. See how to collect EU VAT.
- Specify a refund policy for this product: no refunds, or a 7, 14, 30 or 60-day money-back guarantee, with optional fine print. See how to refund an order.
- a quantity selector, if customers can buy several units.
Step 5: add the content buyers receive
Open the Content tab. This is what customers get after purchase, in their confirmation email and in their customer library.
The content editor works like a document. You can add:
- text, headings, lists and quotes;
- images and videos;
- files to download;
- links and embedded content.
Select Add a page to split a larger product into several pages, such as the chapters of a course. Type / in the editor to insert personalization fields, such as the buyer's name.
If you enabled versions, use Content for to choose which version you are editing. Make content identical copies the content of one version to the others.
Step 6: choose who can see the product and publish it
Open the Publication tab and choose Who can see this product?:
- Public: visible in your store and accessible by its link.
- Unlisted: hidden from your store listings, accessible only by its link. Useful for a product you share only with your email subscribers.
- Private: only the email addresses you authorize can open it.
- Scheduled: published automatically at a date and time you choose.
Then select Publish. Save draft keeps your work without making the product available.
Before your first sale
A paid product can only be bought once your store accepts payments. Until then, the checkout shows No payment method is available for this store yet. Follow how to connect Stripe before you share the link.
Then:
- Select View product to check the product page as a visitor sees it.
- Test the delivery by buying it yourself, for example after temporarily setting the price to
0. - Add the product to your homepage with the website builder.
Follow the launch checklist to review everything before announcing your store.
Edit or restore a product
Open the product from Products at any time. After a change, select Publish update to apply it to the live product.
On paid plans, Revisions lets you save a version of the product and restore it later.
